The most essential ingredient for developing and sculpting your body is understanding the mind-muscle connection. This entails an instinct in knowing exactly how to move your body in order to hit the "sweet spot" (read maximal muscle stimulation) when training. This intuitive sense is absolutely necessary to have for the advanced bodybuilder who wants to take his or her physique to the next level. The mind-muscle connection involves focusing on the particular muscle which contracts and stretches when performing an exercise. The amount of weight lifted or pressed is almost irrelevant. Rather than concentrating on how much weight you're lifting or pressing, you should focus on how the weight feels on your muscles. In other words, don't push the weight--instead have the weight push you (feel the weight!).
